Waterville club lost its second South Kerry Final over the Christmas period. The minors went down to a physically superior St Mary’s side on New Year’s Day.
Ground conditions were ideal and both teams contributed to an entertaining contest.
Waterville, playing into the town goal, had the better of the early exchanges and took an early lead. Stephen O’Dwyer took a pass from cousin Barry in the second minute and opened the scoring.
It was Stephen again a minute later after a pass from Micheál Cronin and then Seán Cathal O’Sullivan kicked a pinpoint free from forty metres and sent his side into a three point lead.

On Tuesday 30th of December festive celebrations continued in Waterville in various hostelries and later in the Bay View. This year's fancy dress party was again a huge success. The magic letter was S and guests were expected to dress accordingly. This has become an annual event in the village and is much anticipated by locals and visitors alike. People of all ages dress up and are guided by the chosen letter.
As usual everybody went to great lengths to get into the party spirit. There were Smurfs, Sailors, Sumo Warriors, Santas (Both male and female) and school boys / girls.

Waterville's IRD organisation are this year's benefiiaries and the funds raised will help to fund a new Waterville based website. The new site will inform visitors about what Waterville has to offer to the tourist and provide information re accommodation, things to do, the work of IRD etc.
