A disappointing second half saw Waterville succumb by the narrowest of margins in a very wet and windy Foilmore last Saturday in a scoreline of St. Michaels / Foilmore 0-06, Waterville 0-05. It took a glorious point from a sideline ball from Éanna O’Connor to snatch this victory for the home side, and they were marginally the better side throughout. Full Report

Mikie Lands A Whopper on Lough Currane

Former club treasurer and well known angler Mikie O'Sullivan landed a whopper on Lough Currane on Wednesday 27th Feb. 2013. Mikie was on his own and less than an hour on the water in the vicinity of Darby's Island / Gorman's Rock, when he engaged the twenty pound salmon using a rapala lure. An hour later, exhausted, excited and relieved he finally landed the massive fish. The prize weighed twenty pounds, measured thirty seven inches in lenght with a girth of twenty inches.
We say well done to Mikie and hope he enjoys the fruits of his extraordinary experience. It should be tasty!!

Local Garda Retires

Gárda Seamus Walsh finally hung up his uniform in recent weeks and retired to greener pastures in Cahersiveen. Seamus who is originally from Cahersiveen joined the force in 1983 and his first posting was Finglas in Dublin where he had the good fortune of meeting his future wife Trish. He then spent some years in West Cork before coming to Waterville.
A very pleasant function was held in his honour at Tech Amergin on Tues. 18th Dec. Tony Donnelly was the inimitable Master of Ceremonies. Presentations were made by various groups, including Waterville GAA and well deserved praise was heaped on Seamus for his professional, sensible and considerate approach to his work.
We wish Seamus and his wife Trish many years of health and happiness in the years ahead.
